The early life of this strong woman formed her later life. She was born on February 18, 1934, in New York City. But her parents were from the West Indies. After birth, Audre Lorde learned to talk very fast and also read. Her mother helped her to read and write. In childhood, Lorde spent very less time with her parents. Because they were very busy with their real estate business. Audre Lorde’s mother did not like black people. This nature of her mother created a distance between them.
